Regional One EMS operates in a community that for many years was served by all volunteer rescue squads. These squads have provided a great service to the communities they are responsible for. However increased call volumes and lack of volunteer availability have changed the course of EMS in this area. In 1995, Regional One EMS was contracted by the Danville Life Saving Crew to assist in providing back up emergency response to calls within the City of Danville. This has increased over the years to more and more involvement with 911 service. Currently, Regional One EMS will respond to the following emergency situations: ~ We are primary response for all medical facilities in the City of Danville. This includes nursing homes, assisted living facilities, doctors offices, and acute care facilities. ~911 calls that are prioritized by Danville’s trained Emergency Medical Dispatchers using a nationally accredited priority dispatch system. The 911 center dispatches Regional One as the primary responding agency for your particular emergency. ~If the Life Saving Crew does not respond to a call within four minutes, the 911 Center will automatically dispatch Regional One EMS. Our communication center automatically sends the closest available EMS unit. ~Requests for Advanced Life Support unit to assist another Basic Life Support Unit on a call. In 2006, Pittsylvania County contracted Regional One EMS into a similar agreement. In the county area, Pittsylvania County C-Com will attempt to send a volunteer agency for no more than 6 minutes. If a volunteer agency can not cover the call in that time, Regional One EMS is automatically dispatched. Regional One will then dispatch the closest appropriate unit to respond. |

Because we are not a volunteer service, we employee over 60 EMT’s, Intermediates, Paramedics, Dispatchers and Wheelchair Van Operators. We are required to meet higher guidelines and conditions than the other volunteer agencies. We do not receive any government subsidy nor are we eligible for grants or charity. Therefore we operated solely on income from Medicare, Medicaid, Private Insurances, and Private Pay.
We strategically place our units and staff them 24 hours a day throughout Danville and Pittsylvania County so that when you need help, someone WILL be there.
We have trained billing staff that is more than willing to assist our customers in every way possible. We file with all insurance companies and work with our patients to ensure that your claim is paid.
